The Challenge
The previous site had reached its limits. The projects section couldn't sort and filter the way a firm with thousands of projects needs, new offices took a developer to add, and the team wanted more say in what each page looked like.
About This Project
Rycon is a general contractor founded in Pittsburgh, one of the larger companies in the city, and working across the country. We made their previous site in 2020, and this year it was time for a refresh. They wanted a more powerful projects section, offices they could add without help, and more control over every page. We designed the new site and set up a complete system on WordPress for their team to run it.
What we made
Everything starts with the projects. Rycon has thousands of them, so the portfolio had to sort and filter by market and by tag without slowing down or getting confusing. Getting that ordering and filtering right was the hardest part of the project, and it’s the part we’d point to first.
The National Reach page puts more than 3,000 projects on an interactive map of the country, so a visitor anywhere can see what Rycon has done near them.
The History page is an interactive timeline, designed to feel like a small museum exhibit, and it works as well on a phone as it does on a large screen.
What their team runs now
All of it. Projects, offices, and news live in structured fields, so adding an office means filling in a form, and the page comes out looking the way we designed it. For pages that need a layout of their own, we made a template with a set of designed sections the team can combine in any order. They can put together a page that looks designed without coming back to us.
Third time around
This is the third project Rycon has trusted us with. We made their previous site in 2020, and in 2022 we did the whole brand for Craftworks USA, their sister company, from the logo, colors, and fonts to the website.
What’s next
The site launched in October 2026, so the results are still ahead of it. We’ll add them here as they come in.
